When I first landed in Berlin from Vietnam over 10 years ago, I was completely overwhelmed—light, shadow, just pure chaos! But you know what? My old job as a Finance Manager was actually good for something. It taught me one thing: True beauty needs structure.

Let's be honest: Planning a wedding is like a huge investment. Whether you opt for a convenient all-inclusive solution or a bespoke modular wedding—you are investing not just money, but above all, into your soul.

At the end of the day, you are creating wedding memories as your best asset that will last forever. I am often asked: "Hey Tung, where is the perfect place?" My answer is always the same: "Wherever you feel at home!"

So here is my very personal guide, essentially the "Best of" from ten years as your wedding photographer in Berlin. I have thoroughly combed through my portfolio and picked out the absolute "Top Assets" among wedding venues and ceremony locations in Berlin for you—packaged in real stories and, of course, with the naked facts for your planning. Have fun browsing!

LUXURY & HIGH-END GLAMOUR

We're not just talking "expensive" here. It's about that goosebump feeling when you walk into the lobby and instantly feel like movie stars. These places breathe history, timeless elegance, and that irresistible Hollywood glamour. Perfect for couples who don't want to do things by halves: top service, insane architecture, and backdrops that catapult your wedding visually into another league. Ready for your grand entrance?

Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin

Sure, the name "Adlon" immediately makes everyone think of state visits, Michael Jackson, and the famous red carpet. Impressive, no question. But if we push all the fame aside for a moment and look through my camera, the real magic happens somewhere else: the light!

Especially in the Wintergarten, the daylight is insane. It falls through the high glass ceiling, breaks gently, and acts like a natural soft focus on your skin—we can almost save ourselves the Photoshop. Seriously! And then there's this contrast: I remember a wedding in one of the upper suites. We stood at the window, looking directly at the Brandenburg Gate. Down below, the bustling tourist chaos, honking, selfies—and up with us? Heavenly peace, champagne, and this intimate moment just for you. This mix of "world-city feeling" and absolute luxury makes the Adlon unbeatable for me. If you want to feel like you're getting married in the heart of Europe, this is exactly the right place.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Unter den Linden 77, 10117 Berlin (Mitte)

  • Capacity: Ballroom (up to 500 people), Private Salons (20–80 people)

  • Vibe: Imperial Era, Pure Luxury, Iconic

  • Highlight: Catering possible from the 2-star restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer.

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin

The Ritz at Potsdamer Platz is like a time machine straight into the "Roaring Twenties" for me. As soon as the doors close and the noise of the big city stays outside, this heavy, noble vibe embraces you. Art Deco details everywhere, geometric patterns, warm gold, and dark wood.

As a wedding videographer in Berlin, I love this place because it is perfect for "Low Key" shots. We don't need blazing sunlight here. On the contrary, we play with shadows, with reflections on the marble, and set light accents that bring real drama to the images.

My absolute insider tip for the party afterwards is the Curtain Club. Imagine: A heavy drink in hand, dimmed light, jazz in the background—it looks more like a cover shoot for Vanity Fair than a well-behaved wedding album.

Tip: If you're wondering why hire a wedding videographer—check out my guide on why motion pictures are so important for capturing the vibe.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Potsdamer Platz 3, 10785 Berlin (Mitte)

  • Capacity: Grand Ballroom up to 600 guests (divisible)

  • Vibe: Great Gatsby, Glamour, Film Set Character

  • Highlight: World-class bar culture and top service.

Waldorf Astoria Berlin

While the Adlon celebrates old, historic Berlin, the Waldorf is the face of the new, cool West. Everything here revolves around glass, height, and this modern elegance that you otherwise find more in Manhattan. It just feels "sharper," edgier, and more dynamic.

My absolute favorite here? Clearly the "Blue Hour"—that short, magical moment after sunset when the sky turns deep blue and the lights of City West start to glow. From the terrace on the 6th floor or the upper suites, you have the ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Zoo practically as wallpaper right in front of your nose. This contrast between the destroyed church and the perfect luxury hotel tells so much about Berlin. The images here look super urban, sharp, and full of energy. If you're looking for the "skyscraper" vibe and want to float above things, you'll be super happy here!

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Hardenbergstraße 28, 10623 Berlin (Charlottenburg)

  • Capacity: Ballroom for approx. 250 guests

  • Vibe: Modern Luxury, Urban, Skyline

  • Highlight: The insane terrace for receptions.

Schlosshotel Berlin by Patrick Hellmann

Hidden in the noble, green Grunewald lies this jewel that many don't even have on their radar. Imagine a historic palace that looks like a dream castle from the outside but was partially designed by Karl Lagerfeld on the inside. Sounds crazy? It is—but in the best sense!

This mix of classic, almost conservative architecture and eccentric, wild fashion design creates contrasts that I love. The garden is an absolute oasis of peace—no one looks over the fence here, no tourists, nothing. Just you and the birds. Inside, on the other hand, everything is opulent: heavy velvet fabrics, huge beds, art everywhere on the walls. Shooting here doesn't feel like being in a hotel, but rather like a home story in the private villa of a fashion designer. Very intimate, very exclusive, and perfect for couples who have their own mind.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Brahmsstraße 10, 14193 Berlin (Grunewald)

  • Capacity: Up to 250 people (Indoor & Outdoor)

  • Vibe: Fashion meets History, Private Villa

  • Highlight: Unique design interior.

Soho House Berlin

Soho House is more than just a hotel; it is the statement of the international creative scene. If you get married here, you are also saying something about yourself. The style? "Shabby Chic" in absolute perfection. Exposed concrete walls meet sinfully expensive velvet sofas—everything looks casual, unfinished, but at the highest level.

The most famous spot is, of course, the rooftop pool with a view of the TV Tower. The photos we take here are never stiff or posed. They breathe this typical Berlin-Mitte spirit: cool, relaxed, a bit hedonistic, and always stylish. Like in a private club in London or New York. But be careful: There are strict rules about photography in the Members Club so that the celebs have their peace—this makes it logistically a bit tricky, but the result is worth it!

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Torstraße 1, 10119 Berlin (Mitte)

  • Capacity: Club Floor Events for approx. 200 guests

  • Vibe: Hip, Exclusive, Industrial-Chic

  • Highlight: Members Club atmosphere (not everyone gets in!).

ROYAL, HISTORY & FAIRYTALE

Hand on heart: Who didn't dream of living in a castle as a child? For me, these locations are not mere backdrops; they are time machines. Here, you don't just get married; you become part of a centuries-old history. For me, coming from Asia, this European splendor is always overwhelming—the light falling through high windows, the creaking parquet, the sheer eternity that these walls radiate. If you long for permanence and want to give your love a truly royal frame, then this is your stage.

Schloss Charlottenburg (Great Orangery)

Do you dream of a wedding like in a fairytale book? Then the Great Orangery is unrivaled. This Baroque architecture with huge windows and high ceilings practically screams for wide-angle shots—everything just has to be in there! The light floods the hall from both sides, pure atmosphere. The adjacent palace garden is strongly reminiscent of Versailles. Here we like to stage the "Grand Entrance" or epic couple shoots with a long train on the symmetrical gravel paths. Simply wow!

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Spandauer Damm 22, 14059 Berlin (Charlottenburg)

  • Capacity: 200 to 600 guests (super flexible)

  • Vibe: Royal, Magnificent, Baroque

  • Highlight: Arrival by boat via the Spree possible!

Schloss Köpenick

Schloss Köpenick is located on its own small island and offers something that is really rare in Berlin: absolute peace. Water all around, old trees—that gives beautiful reflections in the photos. The Aurora Hall inside is magnificent but cozier than in Charlottenburg, perfect for emotional ceremonies. I love stealing the bridal couple away to the shore for a moment after the ceremony—these quiet moments often yield the most honest pictures of the whole day. It doesn't get more romantic than this.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Schloßinsel 1, 12557 Berlin (Köpenick)

  • Capacity: Aurora Hall (50–70 guests), Palace Church (larger)

  • Vibe: Fairytale, Idyllic, Water Castle

  • Highlight: An island (almost) just for you.

Schloss Friedrichsfelde

Located in the middle of the Tierpark (Zoo), this palace is a real retreat. The architecture doesn't overwhelm you like Baroque; it is rather elegant and understated—"understatement" at its best. The large windows let in masses of light, ideal for this bright, airy "Fine Art" look. And the best part: We can go directly into the park and have umpteen different natural backdrops within minutes without your guests having to wait forever.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Am Tierpark 125, 10319 Berlin (Lichtenberg)

  • Capacity: Banquet Hall up to 80 people (seated)

  • Vibe: Elegant, Nature-connected, Classic

  • Highlight: Location right in the Zoo!

NATURE & DREAMY ROMANCE

Berlin is green. But not just "run-of-the-mill park green." We are talking about wild islands, enchanted lake landscapes, and royal gardens that make you completely forget that the subway is only 20 minutes away. For me as an artist, these places are "Clean Slates"—blank canvases on which we can paint your love without the noise of the big city. Those who say "I do" in nature decide for timelessness.

Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island)

Peacock Island is like an enchanted dream. Even the trip on the small ferry leaves the stress behind on the shore. The white castle looks like something out of a Disney movie (it was built as a ruin on purpose, crazy right?). Since cars and loud music are forbidden, heavenly silence reigns here. We use the tall grass, the ancient oaks, and of course the free-roaming peacocks as a backdrop. No party snapshots are created here, but poetic, timeless portraits full of tenderness.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Pfaueninsel, 14109 Berlin (Wannsee)

  • Logistics: Only accessible by ferry

  • Vibe: Enchanted, Timeless, Quiet

  • Highlight: UNESCO World Heritage Site (but observe strict rules!).

Liebermann Villa on Wannsee

The painter Max Liebermann used to live here, and you can feel this artistic spirit in every corner. The garden is a masterpiece and reaches right down to the shore of Wannsee. The light on the water is often much softer than in the city. We use the flower beds and the birch alley to make pictures that look almost like paintings themselves. The perfect place for couples who love art and nature—and since we are often on the road as a wedding photographer in Potsdam in this area, we know the light out here by the water perfectly.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Colomierstraße 3, 14109 Berlin (Wannsee)

  • Capacity: Approx. 80–100 guests

  • Vibe: Artistic, Summer Retreat, Historic

  • Highlight: Getting married in a museum garden.

Botanic Garden Berlin

The Botanic Garden is my life insurance in bad weather. The old greenhouses made of glass and steel are like cathedrals. Even if it snows or rains outside, we have tropical light and lush green inside. The plants—from giant palm leaves to cacti—offer brilliant backgrounds. The New Glasshouse is also a beautiful location: Dinner under the starry sky (through the glass ceiling), but absolutely dry and warm.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Königin-Luise-Straße 6-8, 14195 Berlin (Dahlem)

  • Capacity: Mediterranean House (approx. 150), New Glasshouse (up to 300)

  • Vibe: Exotic, Green, Architectural

  • Highlight: Summer feeling in every season.

URBAN INDUSTRIAL & VINTAGE

Forget stucco and gold. This is the real Berlin, the reason the world looks at us. Raw, unpainted, honest. Old factories, bare concrete, steel beams—these are textures that have character. As an ex-finance guy, I like things that have "substance," and these locations will still be standing when everything else falls. For couples who don't want a fairytale wedding, but a damn good party with rough edges.

Clärchens Ballhaus

The Hall of Mirrors in Clärchens Ballhaus is a legend! A relic from another time, almost unchanged. The walls are peeling, the mirrors are blind ("blind mirrors"), and the wooden floor creaks with every step. Exactly this "Faded Grandeur" look makes the room so incredibly photogenic. You hardly need decoration here; the room itself tells enough stories. The light is often dim and mystical—perfect for emotional shots, far away from typical wedding kitsch.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Auguststraße 24, 10117 Berlin (Mitte)

  • Capacity: Hall of Mirrors for approx. 150 guests

  • Vibe: Nostalgic, Raw, Legendary

  • Highlight: One of Berlin's oldest ballrooms.

  • Tung's Finance Tip: Save the budget for expensive flower walls. The room is so strong, it hardly needs deco. Avoid hidden wedding costs and put the money into a really good live band instead.

Fabrik 23

Hidden in a backyard in Wedding lies this authentic factory loft. Here, raw brick meets steel beams and lovingly collected vintage furniture. Masculine, cool, and full of character. As a photographer, I'm totally into the textures here—the rough masonry in contrast to the soft white of the wedding dress, that really pops! The various lofts offer different settings, but they all have this unmistakable Berlin Industrial vibe. And if you're looking for someone who captures this vibe perfectly: As an expert for weddings in Potsdam and Berlin, I know these corners like the back of my hand.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Gerichtstraße 23, 13347 Berlin (Wedding)

  • Capacity: Lofts for 40–100 people

  • Vibe: Hipster, Industrial, Vintage

  • Highlight: Very authentic, zero staged.

Kühlhaus Berlin

Whoever thinks of Industrial Style on a grand scale means the Kühlhaus. This red brick cube at Gleisdreieck is huge and almost completely empty inside. That means: Maximum freedom for you! The high ceilings and galleries allow spectacular perspectives from above. Here we can really let off steam with light installations. The images become modern, avant-garde, and often have an almost architectural look.

Fact Sheet:

  • Address: Luckenwalder Str. 3, 10963 Berlin (Kreuzberg)

  • Capacity: Very large, modular for 100 to over 500 guests

  • Vibe: Berlin Industrial, Expansive, Flexible

  • Highlight: Blank canvas for your ideas.

CINEMATIC PHOTO SPOTS (Shooting Only)

The ceremony is the heart, the party is the fireworks—but the couple shoot? That is your breathing space. These locations are my personal "Secret Spots" to escape the hustle and bustle for a moment. It's not about posing here, but about bringing the city of Berlin into your pictures as the third main character. Whether epic in the sunrise or raw under the subway—we steal this one hour to create exactly those cinematic images that will later hang large-framed on your wall.

  • Oberbaumbrücke: Berlin's most beautiful bridge with the neo-Gothic brick towers. Best at sunrise when the city is still sleeping and the golden light falls over the Spree.

  • Museum Island (Colonnades): The classic colonnades in front of the Alte Nationalgalerie reflect the light beautifully softly. Timeless elegance, almost reminds of Paris or Rome.

  • Eberswalder Straße U-Bahn Station: Up for the "Dirty Berlin" look? Then get under the yellow elevated trains! The steel and the urban hustle are the perfect background for cool street-style photos.

PLANNING INSIGHTS FROM THE EX-FINANCE MANAGER

As a former Finance Manager, I know: Romance needs a plan.

Especially the Standesamt Mitte von Berlin (Parochialstraße 3) is mega popular. The architecture is beautiful, but appointments are in short supply. My tip: Be online exactly 6 months before your desired date at 0:00 AM or queue in person in the morning. No joke!

Important for 2025: Definitely check the new naming law that applies from May 1st, 2025. Finally, true double names for both partners and children are possible—use this freedom when registering!

At Maii Studio, we combine this precision in planning with total artistic freedom. We don't just know the address; we know the position of the sun and the heartbeat at each of these places.

Just write to us for a meeting.

Yours, Tung.
